Technical Assistance to Drive Grantee Impact

The Task

The NYC Change Capital Fund, a collaboration of 17 foundations and financial institutions dedicated to the revitalization of distressed NYC neighborhoods, wanted support launching an initiative to help community development corporations (CDCs) reduce poverty in their communities.

Our Strategy

  • Worked closely with CDCs to establish scalable systems for collecting data that gathered key information about participants without adding significant work to staff’s plates
  • Identified common measures to track poverty alleviation and progress of the programs over time
  • Analyzed grantee outcomes in mid-year and annual reports that compared performance to peer organizations across the country

Project Impact & Outcome

  • Common metrics used across Change Capital Fund grantees to understand which strategies are most effective in improving economic mobility in communities
  • Benchmarks that CDCs can use to assess their progress against national standards for success
