AvalonBay, a large real estate development company undertaking a substantial mixed-use development, engaged Public Works Partners to design an approach for connecting local residents to job opportunities associated with building and operating the project.

Our Strategy

• Advised on the rollout of an initiative to maximize hiring for local residents, leveraging our knowledge of workforce providers
• Identified best practices for engaging community-based organizations
• Developed a comprehensive set of workforce investment strategies tied to different phases of the project

Project Impact & Outcome

• A local hiring strategy that meets the needs of the local community, satisfies the requirements of the City’s hiring mandates, and will build positive, collaborative relationships with local stakeholders from the outset of the project
