Emily Jones

Manager

Emily is passionate about empowering individuals to create change in their communities through education and engagement.

Emily comes to Public Works with experience in adult education, stakeholder engagement, capacity building, and program administration. She has worked at numerous educational institutions in South Korea, Malaysia, and New York City and has managed workforce development programs in New York City. Emily believes that keeping the end user in mind is vital to the success of a particular tool or service and ensures that those perspectives are incorporated during each project phase for her clients.
 

Experience
  • Provided technical assistance and capacity building to Jobs-Plus providers at NYC’s Human Resources Administration and supported operations during the program’s expansion and mental health integration.
  • Developed and implemented new assessment tools and curricula based on employer and client demands for America Works, an HRA Career Services Career Pathways provider
  • Led teacher training and professional development workshops for pre- and in-service teachers and co-chaired the first free English Language Conference in partnership with the US Embassy as an English Language Fellow in Malaysia
  • MA in TESOL from Teachers College, Columbia University
  • BA in Women’s Studies from the University of Kansas
Outside of Public Works Partners
  • Walking around Prospect Park with her fluffy Havanese dog, Fauci (a proud pandemic pup!)
  • Listening to NPR, comedy, and pop culture podcasts
  • Volunteering with the Brooklyn Book Bodega, an organization that provides access to and ownership of books for kids 0-18 throughout NYC
