NYC DOT’s new scooter program coming to a corner near you.
We’re getting excited about the DOT’s new e-scooter program, which is set to launch in March. The program could bring a needed alternative mode of transportation to parts of New York with limited access to subways, buses, and Citi Bikes, a. With little information available on details of the program, we turned to Chicago, which wrapped up their second summer pilot program last September, to see how they managed this sometimes controversial form of micro-mobility. From safety precautions to ensuring an equitable distribution of the scooters, there are many factors that the DOT and its partners will have to get right to ensure a successful rollout.
Women belong in all places where decisions are being made.
We are excited to kick off a new project with Take Office, a new nonprofit education program founded by Jeri Powell to accelerate pathways to careers in public service for women. Take Office creates nonpartisan professional training opportunities for women interested in preparing for leadership positions in public policy and politics, including running for public office. To support Take Office as it starts up, Public Works will draw on our Organizational Health practice to assess the success of the program’s initial cohorts. Our engagement will position Take Office to rapidly refine its program and to consistently provide programming that is effective and meaningful to participants.
What We’re Doing:
Meet our newest team members, Joel and Emily!
Last month Public Works Partners welcomed two fresh faces: Joel Hochman and Emily Pfeiffer. Joel brings a wealth of experience from his work with legal aid organizations, nonprofit technical assistance providers, and public sector agencies to the Client Services team, where he will support our clients’ infrastructure, workforce, and economic development planning needs as our newest Manager. Emily will support the Business Development team as a project coordinator, drawing on her experience in digital marketing and social media management. Help us welcome them to the team!
