New Yorkers for Children – 19th Annual Fall Fete, New York, NY
On October 3rd, our CEO Celeste Frye attended the 19th Annual Fall Fete to benefit New Yorkers for Children (NYFC). NYFC has worked alongside the city’s twenty-six privately funded foster care agencies and the Administration for Children’s Services (ACS) to protect, promote, and ensure the safety and well-being of NYC’s children and families, with an emphasis on youth in foster care. The event honored KPMG and Macy’s for their commitment to the cause.
Newtown Creek Alliance – Tidal Toast 2019, Brooklyn, NY
Also on October 3rd, our Head of Business Development Moe Magali attended the Newtown Creek Alliance’s Tidal Toast: A Newtown Creek Celebration. Newtown Creek Alliance (NCA) has been the voice of Newtown Creek; working with industry, agencies, and residents alike to promote awareness, remediation, access, resilient businesses and ecological improvements for the local waterway and upland communities. The event honored those who have been at the forefront of this progress.
SIPA – Empowering Women in Leadership, New York, NY
On October 8th, our CEO Celeste Frye spoke at Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA) about empowering women in leadership. As a woman who founded and now runs her own firm, Celeste spoke about her own professional experiences, including the successes as well as the challenges she has encountered. Celeste was in good company on the panel with the founder of Sake Suki, a craft sake importer, and a global leader at the Treasury & Trade Solutions practice of Citi. This event was hosted by the Empowering Asian Women (EAW) SIPA student group.
SWANA – WASTECON 2019, Phoenix, Arizona
Our CEO and Principal, Celeste Fry, attended WASTECON 2019 in Phoenix, Arizona where she moderated a lively discussion on the circular economy between Peter Fadoul, Associate Manager at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation and Rajesh Buch, Director of Sustainably Practice at Arizona State University. Hosted by the Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA), WASTECON is an industry-focused conference that examines the latest education, advancements, and products in solid waste management.
American Planning Association – New York Metro Chapter Annual Conference, New York, NY
Public Works Manager Dan McCombie represented Public Works Partners at 2019 APA New York Metro Chapter Annual Conference at the Scandinavia House on October 18th. The conference featured several panel discussions on a broad range of issues including how to best utilize technology in planning, how to prepare for recreational marijuana in the NY metro area, and how city designs can best mimic the environment. Clare Newman, the President and CEO of The Trust for Governors Island, delivered the keynote address on envisioning Governors Island as a great public space.
Municipal Arts Society – MAS Summit, New York, NY
On October 25th, Manager Dan McCombie and Analyst Summer Payton attended the 2019 MAS Summit held at the New York Academy of Medicine. The theme for this year’s summit was Fight for Light, which explored the economic, environmental, social, and public health impacts of light and air in urban neighborhoods. Every year the MAS Summit brings together policymakers, industry leaders, and engaged citizens in a daylong dialogue about the most important issues affecting New York and other global urban centers.
Center for an Urban Future – 2019 Gala, New York, NY
On October 30th, our CEO Celeste Frye and Head of Client Services Allison Quigney attended the Center for an Urban Future 2019 Gala. The Center for an Urban Future has been a catalyst for smart and sustainable policies that expand economic opportunity in New York. This past year, their work prompted a major expansion of apprenticeship programs, contributed to a record increase in funding for parks maintenance, and sparked reforms to make the city’s capital construction process more efficient. The event highlighted the organization’s accomplishments over the last year and honored leaders in the space.
