Our Strategy

Public Works designed and tested a survey instrument to address key research questions, and formulated a survey administration strategy that leveraged the existing program structure of CFE’s municipal partners to both minimize program disruption and maximize survey response rate.

Working closely with program staff in eight cities, we ultimately surveyed over 3,100 youth to examine how youth view mainstream financial services, interact with banking institutions, and plan to use financial services after the program ends. To provide additional nuance, we augmented the survey analysis with insights garnered through a series of focus groups across partner cities.

Impact
and Outcome

We conducted a statistical analysis that illuminated how youth view mainstream financial services, interact with banking institutions, and plan to use financial services in the future.

This analysis resulted in data-driven insights that allowed CFE Fund to enhance the national policy conversation on banking access initiatives for low-to medium income youth.
